Now, let’s get to it!

An Australian woman had redefined the conception of “getting lucky” this week. After requesting a U$68 (around 350 reais) refund from a cryptocurrency platform, by mistake, she received U$7,2 million on her bank account (equivalent to 37,2 million reais). Her immediate reaction was to get rid of the money… by spending it. She bought a huge mansion and got away with it for 7 entire months, until the platform had noticed it.

Now, the company is trying to get the money back. They’ve pleaded that it was a mistake made by an intern, he has typed the account number where the value of the payment is supposed to be. Crypto.com tried to block the woman’s account, but it was not enough to get the money back, once she had transferred the money to multiple family and friends accounts. The Supreme Court of Victoria is dealing with the case. A judge commanded that the house was sold and that the platform will get every penny, even though the value of the mansion is only 1/7 of the money they’ve lost.

Uma expressão bem legal que aparece aqui é: To get rid of, que aparece na frase: Her immediate reaction was to get rid of the money… by spending it.

Então, get rid of something é se livrar de algo.

Por exemplo, olha essa frase: “I know we broke up, but I can’t get rid of our photos yet”.

The winter is coming.

The war initiated by Russia six months ago was strongly disapproved of by most of the western countries, and they tried to suppress the Russian actions with heavy economic sanctions. The sanctions have obviously impacted Russia, however, it seems like the time has come for the biggest country in the world to call the tune.

The thing is, over 40% of the natural gas that fills up the entire Europe comes from Russia. This gas is an essential source of energy in the continent, mostly in winter. No wonder why president Putin decided for such a mesure now. Basically, the Kremlin established that they will stop supplying gas to Europe until all the sanctions are revoked. The situation it’s critical and we’ll keep watching its developments.

Olha essa expressão que apareceu por aqui: however, it seems like the time has come for the biggest country in the world to call the tune.

Então vamos lá, “the time has come” é mais intuitivo.

Por exemplo: At home, my wife is the one to call the tune.

The awaited movie “Don’t Worry Darling” will premiere on September 23th, but on the blackstage, the rumors seem to be even more interesting and intriguing than the film’s plot. To begin with the tension regarding an alleged falling out between director Olivia Wilde and leading star Florence Pugh. The two did not pose together on the Venice red carpet, nor did they embrace or look at each other much after the screening ended and the Venice audience gave the film a four-minute standing ovation.

But, most recently, the rumors of a tension between the actors Chris Pine and Harry Styles took place, essentially after a video of Harry Styles supposedly spitting on his fellow actor went viral. Well, did Harry actually spit?

A representative for Pine denies the incident occurred, calling such claims “a ridiculous story.” And he continued with “It’s a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation,” Pine’s rep said in a statement to Variety. “Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.” What do you think?

Que aparece nessa frase aqui: But, most recently, the rumors of a tension between the actors Chris Pine and Harry Styles took place.

Então olha essa frase aqui: “The premiere of the movie took place in Venice”, aqui tem o sentido de acontecer, ocorrer.
